This three-day Akagera package takes you east from Kigali into a park of open plains, woodland, wetlands and lakes. It is designed for travellers who want a classic wildlife experience without leaving Rwanda.
Morning and afternoon drives give you the best chance to see elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelope and abundant birdlife. We can add a second night, a longer route or a Kigali stay around the core package.

Detailed itinerary
Your guide collects you in Kigali and drives east through the countryside. Depending on arrival time, enter the park for an introductory drive before settling into your lodge.
Start early for a game drive while animals are active in the cooler hours. After a midday rest, take a boat safari on the lake, then finish with an afternoon drive or sunset viewpoint.
Use the morning for one last wildlife drive before leaving the park. Your guide returns you to Kigali, your hotel or the airport according to your onward plans.
